Install in a minute.

Version 1.0.0 is not notarized yet, so macOS asks you to confirm the first launch. It takes two clicks.

1. Install

Download the disk image, open it and drag NotchStar to Applications.

2. Open it

Open NotchStar from Applications. macOS will say it cannot check the app for malicious software. Click Done (not Move to Bin).

3. Approve it

macOS 15 or later: open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, scroll to the Security section and click Open Anyway next to NotchStar. Confirm with your password or Touch ID.

macOS 14: in Applications, right click NotchStar, choose Open, then click Open in the dialog.

The star appears in your menu bar and the notch is ready.

Trial and license

Every tool works for 7 days. After that, buy a license for $4, then paste the key in Settings, License.

Why does macOS say it cannot verify NotchStar?

Version 1.0 is signed but not notarized by Apple yet. Notarization is a malware scan Apple runs for developers who are enrolled in its Developer Program. Until ours is complete, macOS asks you to confirm the first launch.

Is it safe?

You do not have to take our word for it. Compare the SHA256 checksum below with the file you downloaded, and read our privacy policy for exactly what the app sends. The app has no account and no analytics.

Will it always need this step?

No. Once notarization is in place, new versions open without the extra step. You only do this once per Mac for the version you installed.

How do I update?

There is no automatic updater in 1.0. Download the new version from this site and drag it over the old one. Your settings and license carry over.
